Laser Dentistry

At McMaster Dental we have seen firsthand how a small amount of gum contouring can make a huge difference in the appearance of a patient’s smile. This is why we choose to offer advanced and effective laser dentistry for our Escondido patients.

What is laser dentistry?

Laser dentistry is a type of new technology used in dentistry. The laser produces energy in the form of light and performs as a gentle cutting device for gum tissue. Our diode laser is a highly effective tool which enables us to provide our patients with the maximum level of care.

Why does McMaster Dental choose to invest in laser technology?

We believe that in order to provide excellent dental care, it’s vital to be equipped with a variety of instruments. “If you only have two or three tools in your toolbox, you may be limited as to what you can do. But if you have several tools, you can cover a range of treatments.” -Dr. McMaster

When is the soft diode laser used?

We mainly use our laser when we are trying to achieve gingivial symmetry, remove diseased or inflamed tissue, provide gum contouring, and in preparation for porcelain veneers and crowns (if needed).

Are laser procedures painful?

No, the procedure itself is not painful. However, your gums may be slightly sore the next day.

How can laser dentistry at McMaster Dental benefit me?

Use of the laser is conservative, quick, and requires minimal to no recovery time. With gum contouring, if your gums are “hiding” your teeth, a small amount of contouring may be the key to a fuller, healthier smile.

Dr. Todd McMaster and our hygienists are all certified in use of the diode laser and attend continuing education courses to keep skills up-to-date. Contact McMaster Dental today and see how you can benefit from revolutionary laser dentistry in Escondido!
